Students Offer Heartfelt Thanks to John Cauvin, Executive in Residence for The School of Hotel and Restaurant Management

--

Hello Professor Cauvin,
I want to say thank you for an absolutely amazing semester. I am still sad we were not able to do the Leadership Conference last semester but I am glad I was able to know you throughout that process as well. Your teachings will stick with me for a lifetime and I greatly appreciate you being there for each of us. I wish I could take your class all over again. I will be taking a lot of your teachings and methods into my MIT position I will start in May. Thank you, thank you, thank you for a great semester and an amazing capstone class. I know you left an impression on many of us. Wishing you the best of luck in retirement, enjoy yourself!

Hello Professor Cauvin,
I just wanted to thank you for being such a great professor, role model and mentor for me the past 2 semesters. I truly do not think I would have the potential I do now as a leader, and I have you to thank for that.

Before my senior year, I could have never imagined myself accepting a job offer on the other side of the country at a 5-star, luxury award-winning resort. Not because I didn’t see myself actually accepting a job, but because I never even thought I would be considered. The advice and lessons you gave in 315W and 490C are priceless to me- they gave me the confidence to send in applications to places I never imagined I would be going.

I am so proud to tell you I will be moving to Charleston, South Carolina in 2 and a half weeks to start as a Guest Service Agent at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Your lessons came up in every interview I had and I really think that they helped me get this position. So, thank you for being so encouraging and helping me reach my goals! I wish you the best in your retirement and hope you stay happy and healthy! Thank you.

Hi Professor,
I emailed you because I wanted to send you an individualized thank you note. This class has taught me things that I will hold near and dear to my heart throughout my career. It taught me to never give up on myself when times were hard, it taught me to hold myself and others accountable, and how to get out of my comfort zone. Thank you for pushing me (I needed it) and teaching me the ways on how to become successful. This class has taught me more than all of the other classes I have taken combined. I wish you were staying around for another semester so I could enroll into your 490c class. Thank you for everything, this class has meant the world to me. P.S. Have a great time in retirement, you deserve it! Best Professor I have ever had.

Hello Professor,
I just wanted to reach out and tell you thank you for everything this semester. Your class truly taught me so much about the world I am about to dive head first into, but more importantly taught me so much about myself. I feel like I truly became a better, more mature, and more knowledgeable person because of your class. It really was a pleasure to take your class and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors! Thank you again.

Good morning Professor Cauvin,
I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful semester. You have taught me so many valuable lessons and insight that I have, and will, bring with me as I approach the beginning of my career in the hospitality industry. You were a fantastic professor and I will be forever grateful for everything that you have taught me to shape me into who I am as a professional. I wish you all the best. Thank you again.

Hello professor Cauvin!
