Dean Subramanian

July 28, 2020

Hello,

I am honored and excited to be serving as the new dean of The W.A. Franke College of Business (FCB). FCB has strong academic programs, dedicated faculty and staff, supportive alumni and friends, and outstanding students. Supporting NAU’s vision of excellence, FCB builds an inclusive, diverse, and responsible community to remain a force of change no matter where our graduates choose to make a difference.

The W.A. Franke College of Business is poised to do great things as we move through these unprecedented times. While we remain focused on our core curriculum, the college is committed to responding to industry needs and preparing students for the future. Our Risk Management Insurance (RMI) program continues to draw the attention of industry partners and students, while the NAU Financial Planning Program prepares students to sit for the Certified Financial Planning (CFP) exam. NAU’s Economic Policy Institute, in partnership with the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, developed the COVID Aware program to assist the Coconino Health Department and local restaurants in training to better serve the community.

Working alongside the university and collaborating with you, I am committed to developing a shared vision and strategic plan. A crucial part of building upon the college’s success is nurturing relationships with alumni, friends, industry partners, and other stakeholders. Together, we will advance business education, research, and training — stimulating economic development in Arizona and beyond. By working together with industry leaders and our more than 175,000 alumni around the world, we can unlock a tremendous opportunity to build and sustain academia-industry partnerships for research, internships, and employment opportunities.

During these challenging times, I am impressed by NAU’s resilience, which shows itself in the Lumberjack spirit radiating throughout the community and beyond. The simultaneous digital streaming experience allows students in the classroom and remote locations to participate in class, in real time, together. We are working together to ensure classes are delivered in a way that supports the health and safety of all. To learn more about NAUFlex visit nau.edu/nauflex.

As I begin this journey as one of NAU’s newest Lumberjacks, I look forward to sharing our progress and engaging with you.

Sincerely,

Ashok Subramanian, Ph.D., Dean
